How it all started...
Midway is a rural church, and was started in 1909 in a mining community called Iron Ridge, in Carroll County, VA. The Gosson Mines was a community in itself. Having their own store, school, sawmill, water system and church. The mines were managed by General Chemical and mined pyrrhotite for 57 years. The mines closed in 1962, putting 90 workers out of a job.
